Ipoh Railway Station
The Taj Mahal of Ipoh
Often referred to as the “Taj Mahal of Ipoh,” the Ipoh Railway Station is one of Malaysia’s most beautiful colonial landmarks. Completed in 1917, this majestic white building features a blend of Moorish, Mughal, and Edwardian Baroque architecture, with sweeping arches, ornate domes, and a grand central hall.
Designed by Arthur Benison Hubback—the same architect behind Kuala Lumpur’s railway station—the structure was originally both a train terminal and a hotel. Today, it continues to serve passengers traveling along the KTM line while standing as a proud symbol of Ipoh’s colonial past.
Set against a backdrop of limestone hills and surrounded by manicured gardens (known as Station Square), the station is a favorite photo spot and a great starting point for a heritage walk through Ipoh Old Town.
Whether you’re arriving by train or simply exploring the city, Ipoh Railway Station is a must-visit—where history, beauty, and nostalgia come together.
