(CNN)Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's campaign is making a late push into deeper-red states in the final week before the 2020 election, chasing a number of possible paths to 270 electoral votes while President Donald Trump focuses on defending a narrower set of states that he won four years ago but where polls show he now trails.
Biden is set to visit Georgia and Iowa this week, while his running mate, California Sen. Kamala Harris, travels Friday to Texas -- all states Trump won handily in 2016.
Trump's campaign, meanwhile, is narrowing its focus. It is largely ignoring the Biden team's bids for states like Georgia, Texas and Ohio, where Biden has made a late advertising push -- a result of the reality that Trump cannot keep pace with the better-funded Biden's spending.
Build your own road to 270 electoral votes with CNN's interactive map.
With so many states to defend, Trump's campaign is banking on those states' electorates being Republican enough that he can win them with limited effort. Instead, Trump is focusing his efforts on seven states he won four years ago, as well as Minnesota and Nevada, which he hopes to flip this time around.
The travel schedules and ad spending in the race's final week underscores the reality that Biden's campaign is competing on a much larger playing field than Trump -- one that includes states where a strong Biden performance could also help deliver Democratic victories in key House and Senate races.

IPOH, Oct 27 — Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham today accused the Perak government and State Agriculture Development Corporation (SADC) of being complicit in the destruction of the mangrove ecosystem in the Manjung district.
Ngeh claimed that the state government has tasked the oversight of many mangrove areas to SADC, which in turn leased them to third parties for aquaculture purposes such as prawn and fish farms.“The state has the largest tracts of mangrove land along Sungai Segari, Sungai Dinding, Sungai Sitiawan and Sungai Sempit in Segari, Manjung district.
“Recently, some fishermen in Segari have complained that the number of crabs, prawns and fish has decreased due to water pollution and that many mangrove areas which are the breeding grounds for crabs, prawns and fish have been destroyed and used for aquaculture,” he said in a statement.

PETALING JAYA: A PKR MP has hit out at Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin after he blamed the current political turmoil on Malaysians who voted for Pakatan Harapan (PH) in 2018.
Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh said Zahidi’s remarks yesterday were irresponsible and embarrassing, and told the Umno MP to stop shifting the blame onto the people.
“I’m sure many have not forgotten Zahidi’s actions in the issue involving Veveonah Mosibin. I’m sure many also have not forgotten that he once said he would work on providing free internet for universities when most universities already provided that facility.
“It is not wrong for the people to carry out their duties in casting their votes to uphold democracy.
“A government that only plays politics, that doesn’t take the people’s issues seriously and that shifts the blame to others is the one that’s wrong and irresponsible,” Syed Ibrahim said in a statement today.
Zahidi, who is the Padang Besar MP, had said the dwindling economy and political impasse had been caused by the previous PH government voted in by the people in the last general election.
He said the people should not blame politicians for the current state of affairs in the country as elected representatives and members of the administration were merely trying to remedy the situation.
Syed Ibrahim told Zahidi to reflect and ask himself whether he had helped in correcting the situation.

PETALING JAYA: Umno veteran Noh Omar has denied news reports claiming that he and fellow party leader Nazri Aziz attacked former prime minister Najib Razak over a suggestion to work with Anwar Ibrahim.
In a Facebook post, the Tanjong Karang MP said he was “shocked” over the reports making such claims.
“What was written is not true. Yes, I attended the (Umno MPs) meeting but I did not attack Najib. I only gave my views and Nazri did not attend.”
This, he said, showed the reports were “not true at all”.

Australia's coronavirus epicenter records no new cases as the US and Western Europe struggle to contain the pandemic
(CNN)Melbourne, the city at the epicenter of Australia's coronavirus epidemic, will move out of lockdown this week after the Victoria state health department on Sunday reported no new cases and no deaths due to the virus for the first time in more than four months.
Announcing the relaxation of restrictions at a news conference on Monday, Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews said starting on Tuesday at 11:59 p.m., Melbourne residents will be allowed to leave their homes and most businesses in the state can reopen with restrictions on the number of people.
"With 0 cases and so much testing, we are able to say that now is the time to open up. Now is the time to congratulate every single Victorian who has stayed the course," Andrews said.
The remarkable milestone of no new cases comes just months after Andrews declared a "state of disaster" to stem an outbreak that saw as many as 725 people in the state test positive for the virus in a single day.
The steep decline in cases has allowed the government to lift major social distancing measures that have been in place for weeks.
As cases began skyrocketing this summer, Andrews put in place the type of strict anti-epidemic measures that governments in Western Europe and the United States have been hesitant to enact out of fear of damaging the economy and trampling on civil liberties.

- No deaths associated with influenza vaccination have been reported in Singapore but use of SKYCellflu Quadrivalent and VaxigripTetra suspended as a precaution
- South Korea will continue vaccination programme after finding no direct link to casualties, warning that coronavirus outbreak heightens risk of ‘twindemic’
Singapore has temporarily halted the use of two influenza vaccines as a precaution after some people who received them in South Korea died, becoming among the first countries to publicly announce a halt of the vaccines’ use.
South Korea
reported that 48 have died as of Saturday after
getting flu shots
but said it would carry on with the state-run vaccination programme as they found no direct link between the deaths and the shots.
No deaths associated with influenza vaccination have been reported in Singapore to date but the decision to halt the use of SKYCellflu Quadrivalent and VaxigripTetra was precautionary, the health ministry and the Health Sciences Authority (HAS) said in a statement late on Sunday.
The HSA is in touch with the South Korean authorities for further information as they investigate to determine if the deaths are related to influenza vaccinations.
SKYCellflu Quadrivalent is manufactured by South Korea’s SK Bioscience and locally distributed by AJ Biologics, while VaxigripTetra is manufactured by Sanofi and locally distributed by Sanofi Aventis.
Two other influenza vaccines that have been brought into Singapore for the Northern Hemisphere 2020-21 influenza season may continue to be used, Singapore health authorities said.

White House admission on pandemic overshadows Trump's last push for reelection |

(CNN)A stunning White House claim that the US cannot control the fast-worsening pandemic is overshadowing President Donald Trump's frantic last-ditch bid to turn around his reelection race with Democrat Joe Biden with eight days to go.
The comments by White House chief of staff Mark Meadows on CNN on Sunday alarmed medical experts who argue that letting the coronavirus rage unchecked is akin to a policy of herd immunity that will cost many thousands of lives. But with daily new infections hitting record levels, Trump spent the weekend in a campaign blitz in which he openly flouted steps like masking and social distancing that could slow the spread of the disease and moaned that all the media talks about is "Covid, Covid, Covid."
"We are not going to control the pandemic," Meadows told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" Sunday, arguing that "proper mitigation factors" like therapies and vaccines should be the priority.

Singapore to import electricity from Malaysia next year |

SINGAPORE: Singapore will be embarking on a two-year trial for electricity imports from Peninsular Malaysia, according to the Energy Market Authority (EMA).
“To meet our climate change commitments, there is a need to change the way Singapore produces and uses energy.
“Tapping on regional power grids for cleaner energy resources is one strategy to further diversify Singapore’s energy supply,” said EMA on its website.
It said the trial aims to assess and refine the technical and regulatory frameworks for importing electricity into Singapore.
“This would help facilitate larger-scale imports from the region in future.”
EMA said it planned to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) by March for 100 megawatts (MW) of electricity imports, making up about 1.5% of Singapore’s peak electricity demand.
Under the RFP, electricity imports could begin as early as end-2021, through the existing electricity interconnector between Singapore and Malaysia.
EMA said one importer will be selected through an open and competitive selection process.
