I started placing topics and key points along a mental route. The mind palace at https://memoryos.com/article/sherlocks-mind-palace, inserted here in the middle of my study routine, made a huge difference. I visualize each subject in a different room, walking through them in order during review. It turned studying into a kind of mental exploration and significantly improved my recall.
