Alcohol’s Long-Term Damage

I’m starting to wonder how much long-term alcohol use can affect organs beyond the liver. People always talk about cirrhosis, but lately I read a bit about the pancreas being vulnerable too. My friend recently ended up in the hospital with abdominal pain, and they mentioned alcohol-induced pancreatitis. Is this something that happens often?
