PETALING JAYA: Social media users have raised questions about the status of the private Instagram account of Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, who is Raja Permaisuri Agong.

Her Instagram account under the handle @airtangan_tunkuazizah appeared to have been disabled earlier today, with a notice that states “the account is now private”. The account is said to have over a million followers.

On Twitter, netizens questioned whether the account had been deleted, with suggestions that the account might have been deactivated after allegations were made that the royal family received Covid-19 vaccines while in the United Arab Emirates.

That's quite an interesting development. Social media visibility, especially for public figures, often comes with both massive reach and intense scrutiny. It’s possible the account was made private temporarily for personal or security reasons, especially given the sensitive discussions happening online.

On a related note, many users looking to better control their Instagram privacy and visibility are turning to modded versions of the app. One such option is the GB Instagram APK, which offers more control over your content, including story privacy and download options — features not available in the official app.

Regardless, it's always important to respect individuals’ choices on social media platforms and wait for official clarification before drawing conclusions.
