Sam Poh Tong Temple

Ipoh Oldest Cave Temple

Sam Poh Tong Temple, also known as the Three Buddhas Cave, is the oldest and most prominent cave temple in Ipoh, Perak. Nestled within a limestone hill just 5 km from the city centre, the temple was established in a natural cave and follows the Mahāyāna Buddhist tradition.

This serene sanctuary features Buddha statues, tortoise ponds, and beautifully landscaped Chinese-style gardens, all set against a dramatic limestone backdrop. A steep stairway inside the cave leads to a scenic viewing point, offering a peaceful escape and a view of the surrounding mountains.

Sam Poh Tong stands as a symbol of faith, nature, and architecture harmoniously coexisting—making it a must-visit site for both spiritual visitors and cultural explorers.
