KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 — The inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir resumes today for its 25th day at the Coroner’s Court.

According to BuletinTV3, the inquest, held to determine the cause of death of the Form One student on July 17, is being heard before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan.

At last Thursday’s proceedings, the 15th child witness — a student at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Tun Datu Mustapha — told the court that she was the first person to find Zara Qairina on the morning of July 16.

The student said it was her daily routine to wake up early to wash clothes, iron her uniform and fill water for bathing before preparing for dawn prayers at the school hostel surau.

Zara Qairina, 13, was found unconscious beneath her school hostel building in the early hours of July 16, before being pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE) the following day.

The inquest to determine her cause of death began at the Kota Kinabalu Coroner’s Court on September 3.
