Struggling with Garage Door Issues – Need Repair Advice
#1
Hi everyone,

I’m having some trouble with my garage door and could use some guidance. Lately, it’s been making a loud grinding noise when opening and closing, and sometimes it gets stuck halfway.

I’ve checked the tracks and rollers, and they seem mostly fine, but I’m not sure if the problem is with the spring, motor, or something else. Has anyone experienced similar issues? What are the best steps for troubleshooting or repairing a garage door safely?

Any advice, recommended tools, or DIY tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It sounds like your garage door issues could be caused by a few different things. The grinding noise and the door getting stuck halfway might be due to worn or misaligned rollers, lack of lubrication, or even a problem with the opener’s gears. Sometimes torsion or extension springs can also cause the door to behave like this, but those are dangerous to handle yourself. A good first step is to apply a garage-door-specific lubricant to the rollers, hinges, and springs, and check that the tracks are properly aligned. For more complicated problems, seeking professional garage door repair is the safest option to avoid injury.
