Blood thinning is needed when it comes to the matter of the heart. What does that mean?

Simply put, you are recommended blood thinning foods if you have heart problems and blood related difficulties. Its best to keep in mind that blood thinning is advised only if you have blood clots in the arteries and veins as blood thinning foods can prevent heart attacks and stroke. Blood thinning is also favoured if there is a lack of blood flow to the brain. With the help of our nutritionist, Neelanjana Singh from Heinz Nutri Life Clinic, we list down top 10 blood thinning foods.

Healthy food: Top blood thinning foods
Before we begin mentioning blood thinning foods, there is a major thumb rule that should not be ignored. Blood thinning is not meant for everyone, Neelanjana sternly explains “Blood thinning can be dangerous; there are certain foods that can thin the blood, but we do not give it without documented evidence that the patients needs blood thinning.”

She adds, “Aspirins are given to heart patients who need blood thinning. Sometime there is problem where the blood is too thin and does not coagulate when there is a wound, in that case we give Vitamin K.” blood thinning can interact with medication too.

Rulers must be given ‘honest, true’ advice, says Perak religious dept
Posted by: superadmin - 06-26-2021, 04:20 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: Leaders tasked with advising the Malay Rulers must do so honestly and sincerely to ensure the Sultans are not misled into making any wrong decisions, said the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk).

In its Friday sermon yesterday, JAIPk said the Rulers must be advised on the real situation affecting the people’s lives and the nation’s well being.

This is to enable them to carry out their role as “arbitrators” in a fair and just manner.

“It is very important for the leaders tasked with advising the Rulers to be knowledgeable, transparent, sincere, honest and true.

“This is to ensure that the Rulers are not misled, by being shielded from the facts and reality and thereby cause them to err in their decrees,” it said.

It added that the Malay Rulers needed to get the views of all parties in order to obtain accurate and true facts, as they were required to monitor the governance of the country, despite not governing directly.

It said the Rulers were not mere “decorative monuments” but had a duty to ensure that the separation of powers was maintained, while not siding with any individual, group or political party.

Analysts foresee more heat in Umno with polls delayed
Posted by: superadmin - 06-26-2021, 11:06 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: Ahmad-Zahid-Hamidi-pau-umno-bernama.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: Analysts expect the internal turmoil over Umno’s leadership to get worse with the postponement of party elections for up to 18 months.

Oh Ei Sun of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs said this was because “a lot of people” in the party believed they were more capable of leading the party than current president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“Hishammuddin and many others, including Khairy, might make a move,” he said, referring to Hishammuddin Hussein and Khairy Jamaluddin.

“It’s a free-for-all to try to manoeuvre themselves into a position.

“Ideally, you would like to have somebody who is a potential prime minister candidate leading the party. Because of his court cases, Zahid is not such a candidate. Therefore, a lot of people are very eager to replace him.”

Brazil’s inquiry into Covid disaster suggests Bolsonaro committed ‘crimes against life'

A congressional inquiry into Brazil’s disastrous response to the coronavirus pandemic has found mounting evidence that Jair Bolsonaro’s administration committed “crimes against life”, according to the senior politician leading the investigation.

Launched in April to scrutinize the government’s handling of a crisis that has killed half a million citizens, the nationally televised investigation is digging into the political decisions that led up to one of the cruelest moments in the country’s history.

“The most shocking thing is the realization of how negligent the government has been – on so many issues,” Senator Omar Aziz told the Guardian.

Massive human head in Chinese well forces scientists to rethink evolution
Posted by: superadmin - 06-26-2021, 10:39 AM - Forum: International News - No Replies

[Image: 2651.jpg?width=620&quality=85&auto=forma...5f0e0b69c1]

The discovery of a huge fossilised skull that was wrapped up and hidden in a Chinese well nearly 90 years ago has forced scientists to rewrite the story of human evolution.

Analysis of the remains has revealed a new branch of the human family tree that points to a previously unknown sister group more closely related to modern humans than the Neanderthals.

The extraordinary fossil has been named a new human species, Homo longi or “Dragon man”, by Chinese researchers, although other experts are more cautious about the designation.

“I think this is one of the most important finds of the past 50 years,” said Prof Chris Stringer, research leader at the Natural History Museum in London, who worked on the project. “It’s a wonderfully preserved fossil.”

The skull appears to have a remarkable backstory. According to the researchers, it was originally found in 1933 by Chinese labourers building a bridge over the Songhua River in Harbin, in China’s northernmost province, Heilongjiang, during the Japanese occupation. To keep the skull from falling into Japanese hands it was wrapped and hidden in an abandoned well, resurfacing only in 2018 after the man who hid it told his grandson about it shortly before he died.

US intelligence community releases long-awaited UFO report
Posted by: superadmin - 06-26-2021, 10:16 AM - Forum: Astronomy - No Replies

[Image: 200213150327-pentagon-building-aerial-fi...us-169.jpg]

Washington (CNN)The US intelligence community on Friday released its long-awaited report on what it knows about a series of mysterious flying objects that have been seen moving through restricted military airspace over the last several decades.

In short, the answer, according to Friday's report, is very little, but the intelligence community's release of the unclassified document marks one of the first times the US government has publicly acknowledged that these strange aerial sightings by Navy pilots and others are worthy of legitimate scrutiny.

The report examined 144 reports of what the government terms "unidentified aerial phenomenon" — only one of which investigators were able to explain by the end of the study. Investigators found no evidence that the sightings represented either extraterrestrial life or a major technological advancement by a foreign adversary like Russia or China, but acknowledge that is a possible explanation.

"We were able to identify one reported UAP with high confidence. In that case, we identified the object as a large, deflating balloon. The others remain unexplained," the report says, using the Pentagon's terminology for UFOs.

"Of the 144 reports we are dealing with here, we have no clear indications that there is any non-terrestrial explanation for them — but we will go wherever the data takes us," a senior US official said.

But investigators were also convinced that the majority of the sightings were "physical objects," the official told reporters on Friday.

"We absolutely do believe what we're seeing are not simply sensor artifacts. These are things that physically exist," the official said, noting that 80 of the reported incidents included data from multiple sensors. In 11 cases, pilots reported a "near-miss" collision with these strange objects.

Mystery of what caused South Florida condo collapse deepens
Posted by: superadmin - 06-26-2021, 10:00 AM - Forum: International News - Replies (1)

(CNN)The collapse of a high-rise condo tower in South Florida early Thursday morning has left at least four people dead and 159 more currently unaccounted for. Now, as the search for survivors continues, a critical question looms: What caused the building to fall?

Officials are promising an urgent inquiry as engineers have said it is impossible, at this stage, to pinpoint a precise reason. Local officials familiar with the condo complex, which is only four decades old, have repeatedly shot down rumors that it was in any unusual state of disrepair.

An attorney for the building's condominium association, Kenneth Direktor, warned against early speculation. The building, he told CNN, had been subject to a series of inspections "over the last several months" as part of its milestone 40-year safety certification process.

"Nothing like this was foreseeable," Direktor said. "At least it wasn't seen by the engineers who were looking at the building from a structural perspective."

The only repairs that recently took place, he added, were work on the roof.

At a press conference on Thursday, Surfside, Florida, Mayor Charles W. Burkett dismissed the suggestion that the rooftop repairs should have been a red flag. (It is unclear if the engineer's inspection process located any other concerns or recommended any other work).

From addict to saviour: How a life of pain became a healing mission
Posted by: superadmin - 06-26-2021, 09:19 AM - Forum: Inspiring Stories - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: Standing atop the UMBC Building in Kuala Lumpur in 1986, then one of the tallest in the country, Ramli Samad peered over the edge and thought about ending it all.

“I was at rock bottom,” he told FMT. “I had gone out to buy milk for my children, but used the money to buy drugs instead.

“I was so filled with regret. How was I supposed to go home and tell the only woman who trusted me what I’d done?”

An addict for more than 10 years, mostly using heroin and marijuana, he said frequent attempts to quit had always ended in relapses, causing much pain to those around him.

Unable to bring himself to jump, Ramli returned home to face his wife, and for the first time admitted that he needed help.

Don’t do anything rash, let sectors without clusters reopen, say doctors
Posted by: superadmin - 06-26-2021, 09:12 AM - Forum: Business. Economy and Investment - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: A doctors’ group has urged the government not to resort to any knee-jerk reactions but instead relax the movement control order (MCO) and allow sectors that do not contribute to Covid-19 clusters to reopen.

The Federation of Private Medical Practitioners’ Association Malaysia (FPMPAM) said any move to tighten the current “total lockdown” now would be meaningless as it should have been imposed more strictly from the onset.

FPMPAM president Dr Steven Chow said the economic impact from tightening the lockdown now would be devastating, calling instead for relaxations to the MCO.

Although advocating for some leeway to be given to economic sectors, he maintained that strict SOPs should be put in place.

“To tighten the screws now is clearly a late knee-jerk response as the economy will be badly affected. The numbers have not come down sufficiently despite the fact that we are not doing enough tests.
