PETALING JAYA : Umno will not hesitate to ditch Perikatan Nasional (PN) and go it alone in the next general election (GE15) or even tie-up with Pakatan Harapan (PH) if PPBM continues to punch above its weight to dominate the coalition, a senior Umno leader said today.
Johor Umno deputy chief Nur Jazlan Mohamed warned the party stood to pay a heavy price if it stayed in the ruling coalition and allowed a “weak” PPBM to take the lead at the polls.
Nur Jazlan said there was ‘simmering frustration’ among Umno members against PPBM’s attempts to impose itself as a dominant force in the PN government.
He said, looking at the situation at hand, the party’s grassroots should start thinking “broadly to understand” why the party should explore options such as cooperating with PH component parties, including DAP.

PETALING JAYA: Umno may fall into a trap laid by PPBM and PAS if it accepts a proposal to form a grand coalition with Perikatan Nasional and Gabungan Parti Sarawak, according to political analysts.
Awang Azman Pawi of Universiti Malaya said the coalition would mark the downfall of Umno as an autonomous Malay party.
“Umno will not benefit from it as they will have to listen to PPBM and PAS,” he told FMT.
He said the majority of the party members may reject the proposal for that reason, although some Umno leaders may be keen to work more closely with PPBM.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 – National women’s under-15 footballer Celine Chuang has proven that no barrier is bigger than her will power to make history as the country’s first female to play with Germany’s FC Bayern Munich.
The 15-year-old winger, who has been playing with the U-17 FC Bayern Women second squad since July, said her passion in football was sparked by her siblings’ keen interest in the sport.
After starting serious training four years ago at the Persatuan Sukan Bintang Biru (PSBB), Penang, Celine’s strong desire to improve made her sign up for training at the British International School Phuket (BISP) in Thailand for two years before moving to Munich.
“What I truly love about the sports is the challenging new tricks and techniques that I learn during training. Playing football helps me maintain a great mindset and is a stress reliever.
“The training I received in Malaysia was the foundation; I learnt all the basics there. In Thailand, the intensity of training was certainly higher, as I trained seven times a week under the Cruzeiro Academy’s programme,” Celine said in a statement issued by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) today.
Celine’s life has changed since her family moved to Germany after her brother went there for further studies, bringing it upon herself to improve her German language skills as she goes in search of a brighter future.
Aspiring to become a professional footballer in the Bundesliga and World Cup, Celine took another brave step forward and attended a selection at the Bavarian club last February.
“All of my efforts over the years paid off when I was selected as one of the 10 players to join the second squad of the U-17 FC Bayern Women. I am also grateful for the opportunity to play and train with the U-15 Wacker Munchen e.V. Boys Team; it gave me more confidence and allowed me to improve my football techniques,” she added.
Sharing her experience of the over four months of training in Germany, Celine said it took some time to get used to training in the cold weather and to overcome the initial language barrier.
“Despite the challenges, the community here is very friendly and has been extremely welcoming to me since the very beginning. Thanks to this, I have been able to adapt and settle in since arriving in Germany in June. I am currently undergoing training online due to the cancellation of competitions and leagues as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” she said.
Celine started to gain attention among the German football community after scoring a goal for the U-15 FC Wacker Munchen e.V. Boys’s Team and another goal for the second squad of the U-17 FC Bayern Women in two official German leagues.
Earlier, she netted her first international goal for the Malaysian U-15 National Women’s Team at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Women’s Championship in 2019 to secure a 2-1 victory against Cambodia in Chonburi, Thailand.

Why Trump cries electoral fraud |

US President Donald Trump, perhaps unsurprisingly, has alleged fraud in the Nov 3 presidential election, without offering what anyone would consider real evidence, other than the fact that votes for his democratic challenger, Joe Biden, keep turning up in states where Trump initially led in the count.
The president has already announced that he intends to take the election to the Supreme Court, despite the fact that at the time of his statement, millions of votes in numerous states were still to be counted.
Yet, Trump’s fraud claim could be part of a psychological strategy, deftly executed by a master manipulator. If so, the president may be paving the way to persuading large numbers of Americans to reject the legitimacy of his defeat.
A unique scientific study conducted the day before and the morning of the 2016 US presidential election, probing attitude changes in 1,000 voting-age adults, found that exposure to conspiratorial rhetoric about election interference produced a profound psychological effect. In particular, it led to significantly heightened negative emotions (anxiety and anger), and also undermined support for democratic institutions.
The study, recently published in the academic journal Research & Politics, found that those exposed to conspiracy theories regarding election-rigging were less willing to accept the results of an election, and became less inclined to concede the outcome when the result threatened their partisan goals
Its authors, Bethany Albertson and Kimberly Guiler of the University of Texas, argue that vote-rigging allegations strike at the very foundations of democracy. For example, they may render the public doubtful as to whether non-violent transfers of national authority should follow from a rigged vote.

PETALING JAYA: Even before the dust can settle on the Perak menteri besar issue, Umno’s Nur Jazlan Mohamed has again stoked the fires.
The party’s Johor deputy chairman said the transfer of power in Perak has revealed PPBM to be a “weak” party that clings on to Umno.
Speaking to FMT, Jazlan said because of this, the party’s grassroots should not be “emotional” and get carried away by Umno president and Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s apology to PPBM and PAS’ leadership over the confidence vote in the Perak state assembly.
The vote saw PPBM’s Ahmad Faizal Azumu being removed as menteri besar last Friday.

Perak DAP chief says proposed tie-up with Umno fell through as latter only willing to offer exco posts to PKR, Amanah
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 — Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming revealed today that the party could not form a state government with Umno as the latter was only willing to allocate executive councillor (exco) posts to PKR and Parti Amanah Negara to resolve the political crisis in Perak.
Nga recounted how a series of negotiations were carried out between DAP and Umno after respective party leaders were granted an audience with Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, further adding that no amicable agreement could be reached as Umno were not able to accept the terms of conditions set by PH.
“During the negotiation, Umno made many offers including exco posts to Keadilan (PKR) and Amanah, but excluding the DAP.
“If these offers were accepted, PH Perak will break up as the coalition's unity will be undermined.

New York (CNN Business)Time magazine has named Joe Biden and Kamala Harris 2020's Person of the Year.
The two made history on November 7 when they beat Donald Trump in a bitter election that put him in a small club of presidents who served only one term. Harris on that day became the country's first female, first Black and first South Asian vice president-elect.
"For changing the American story, for showing that the forces of empathy are greater than the furies of division, for sharing a vision of healing in a grieving world, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are TIME's 2020 Person of the Year," wrote Time editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal.
Zoom CEO Eric Yuan was named Businessperson of the Year. The video chat service spiked in popularity amid a health crisis that forced people to work and learn from home.
In the category of Guardians of the Year, Time named activists Assa Traoré, Porche Bennett-Bey and racial-justice organizers; frontline health workers fighting the pandemic; and Dr. Anthony Fauci.

A Florida man just paid off the past dues for 114 families at risk of having their utilities shut off
(CNN)A Florida business owner who was once down on his luck is giving back by covering the utility bills of 114 families who were facing disconnection.
Michael Esmond's generosity started last year when he paid the utility bills of 36 households in his community of Gulf Breeze. This year, with both Hurricane Sally and Covid-induced economic turmoil hitting the city, he thought he needed to up the ante.
"This year to me probably is more meaningful that last year with the pandemic and all the people out of work having to stay home," Esmond told CNN.
"Hurricane Sally slammed us pretty good and hurt a lot of people. We still have a lot of the blue roofs here, where they're just covered with tarps."
Esmond donated $7,615.40 to pay for the past-due bills of 114 households, according to Joanne Oliver, the city's utility billing supervisor. Holiday cards notifying the residents will be mailed this week, she says.

Self Help Hold for Quick Energy Boost |

Feeling sleepy, sluggish?
Sometimes during the day I have dips in energy.
For many people it’s after lunch. I talked to a client once about this and she said, ‘oh, but that’s normal, isn’t it?’
No! It doesn’t have to be. There is a self help hold to give you a quick energy boost.
There is help
We all have 26 ‘energy sites’ on the body and each one of them has a specific meaning, number, location and function.
We can work with these energy sites to help us. We can also use them to target specific issues.
So when you next feel sleepy and sluggish after lunch or at any time during the day, instead of reaching for that coffee or Mars bar, do this Self Help Hold.
It’s like an immediate boost to your energy.
A story
A few years ago, I took my mother to a big event. Thousands of people attended. When it started, my mother started falling asleep. Not because she wasn’t interested but because her energies were flagging.
I showed her this hold and within minutes she had revived and was able to enjoy the presentation. Even she was surprised!
Two energy sites as helpers
In this exercise, we work with two energy sites (or Safety Energy Locks as they are officially called in Jin Shin Jyutsu).
Number 17 is located on the outside of the wrist on the left and right sides. It means ‘reproductive energy’ (as in reproducing energy). So when we work with it, we can give ourselves a quick energy boost.
We also work with energy site number 18, which helps clear the energy in the head (that’s why I use it for headaches as well, or if I have some head tension building). This energy site is located at the base of the thumb on the palm side.

The way you dispose of old kitchen appliances and air conditioning units can have a huge impact on the climate
Whether you are a farmer in Kenya transporting milk to the local market, the owner of a London cornershop or a patient undergoing chemotherapy in Japan, we all rely on devices that keep us, and the things we consume, cool. Without fridges our food would quickly go off, milk would rapidly sour and food poisonings would likely skyrocket.
In the coming months, refrigeration is likely to play a vital role in the current pandemic too. As vaccines begin to roll out, they will need enormous cold-storage supply chains for them to be manufactured, distributed and stored until they are administered. Many other life-saving medications – from insulin to antibiotics – also need to be stored in this “cold-chain” to prevent them from degrading and becoming useless.
In schools, offices, shops and homes in many parts of the world, refrigerants also play an important role in the air conditioning systems that keep these buildings comfortable.
The cooling industry is important, but it is also incredibly polluting – accounting for around 10% of global CO2 emissions. That is three times the amount produced by aviation and shipping combined. And as temperatures around the world continue to rise due to climate change, the demand for cooling will increase too.
