Johor MB has succeeded where you failed, Liew tells Muhyiddin |

PETALING JAYA: DAP’s Liew Chin Tong has praised Johor Menteri Besar Hasni Mohammad for his bipartisan approach in governing the state while calling out Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin for failing to do the same at the federal level.
The Johor DAP chairman said Hasni and Muhyiddin were in similar predicaments, holding slim majorities in the state assembly and Dewan Rakyat, respectively, but chose different approaches to pass their budgets.
“Thus far, Muhyiddin has been trying to dominate and subjugate, alienating the opposition and his own allies while losing focus on the need to rally the nation to face the greatest political, economic and health crises that the country has ever seen.
“Hasni defined the opposition as a ‘strategic partner’ in governing, which is a departure from Umno’s old idea of its dominance and attempts to eliminate the opposition.

Traitor PM Muhyiddin Betrayed – How & Why Ally UMNO Joined Hands With Rival DAP To Overthrow Perak Chief Minister
UMNO thought by joining forces with PAS, it’s a guarantee that the combo will win the next 15th General Election. So the best way to undermine them is to feed their own ego. PAS thought by siding with Bersatu (instead of ally UMNO), it’s a guarantee that the Islamist party will continue to be part of the government. So the best way to undermine them is to feed their own arrogance.
Bersatu thought by splitting UMNO and PAS, it’s a guarantee that it will control the federal government forever. So the best way to undermine them is to feed their own over-confidence. Yes, the only way to undermine the backdoor Perikatan Nasional government is to play along and feed their own ego, arrogance and over-confidence.

SINGAPORE: An inspirational quote by Steve Jobs, a co-founder of Apple Inc, to love whatever work one is doing has seen two Malaysian graduates work as rubbish collectors in Singapore.
Muhammad Khidir Samsudin, who prefers to be called Eday, and his colleague, Mohd Yuamirul Che Yussoff, recently became the focus of attention on social media when they returned an iPad Pro belonging to a Singaporean. They had found it disposed of accidentally in a recycle bin.
Michelle Lim took to Facebook on Dec 2 to express her appreciation.
Lim had written that Eday, 25, and Yuamirul, 26, deserved a “more fulfilling and rewarding job”.

KUCHING, Dec 5 ― Selangau MP Baru Bian has called upon the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to retract his statement against secularism and liberalism as it was deemed grossly insensitive to Sarawak’s aspirations.
He also also called upon all right-thinking Sarawak leaders to make their stand on this issue and be heard, so as to safeguard the Federal Constitution and secularity.
“If the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government perseveres to challenge secularism, then all Sarawakian parliamentarians must withdraw support for this PN administration, including the GPS parliamentarians without whom Muhyiddin Yassin will surely fall as PM,” he said in a statement today.
Baru, who is Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) presidential council member, said on November 28 at Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) annual general meeting, the prime minister was quoted as saying the PN government alliance with Umno and PAS, was ‘God’s will’, and vows to fight against secularism and liberalism.

US House passes federal cannabis decriminalisation bill |

The US House of Representatives has passed a bill to decriminalise cannabis at the national level for the first time.
It calls for removing cannabis from the list of federally controlled substances and erasing certain federal convictions.
It also supports reinvestment in communities adversely impacted by the decades-long "war on drugs".
The bill is very unlikely to be taken up in the Republican-controlled Senate.
The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (More) Act was passed in the lower chamber 228 to 164 on Friday afternoon, with five Republicans - and one independent - supporting the measure.
To become law, the bill needs to pass the Senate and be signed by the president. If that happens, it could help bridge a major disconnect between national and state drug policy in the US.

3 reasons why PAS prefers PPBM to Umno |

PETALING JAYA: Although it started out by cooperating with Umno in the Muakafat Nasional, PAS seems to prefer working in the Perikatan Nasional with PPBM, says an analyst.
There are three reasons for this, says Bridget Welsh of the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
The first is that PPBM has given PAS the largest political representation it has ever had at federal level.
Second, PAS believes it has a stronger electoral pull than Umno, adding that the Islamist party probably thinks its collaboration in Muafakat Nasional helped Umno more than itself.

Now’s not the time to abandon old guard, analysts tell opposition |

PETALING JAYA: Despite the obvious rift among Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders, a lack of credible replacements means that now is not the time for the old guard to step aside, say analysts. They believe that standing firm would give PH its best chance at forming the government again post-GE15.
The cracks in the coalition have begun to widen following the passing of the federal budget at the policy stage last month with Anwar Ibrahim instructing opposition MPs not to push for bloc voting only to reveal later that opposition stalwarts Lim Guan Eng and Mohamad Sabu had disagreed. The cracks first appeared after the resignation of then prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, which led to a tussle for the vacant post.
More recently Warisan MPs openly expressed their dissatisfaction with Anwar by sitting out a budget vote on Monday, citing frustrations over his last-minute instructions, thus exposing the infighting within the opposition.
However, former Universiti Teknologi Malaysia lecturer Azmi Hassan told FMT that despite the disharmony, the “old guard” is what makes the opposition formidable, and said they must iron out any differences they have to present a united front if they hope to secure a win in the next general election.

Humans waging 'suicidal war' on nature - UN chief Antonio Guterres |

"Our planet is broken," the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, will warn on Wednesday.
Humanity is waging what he will describe as a "suicidal" war on the natural world.
"Nature always strikes back, and is doing so with gathering force and fury," he will tell a BBC special event on the environment.
Mr Guterres wants to put tackling climate change at the heart of the UN's global mission.
In a speech entitled State of the Planet, he will announce that its "central objective" next year will be to build a global coalition around the need to reduce emissions to net zero.
Net zero refers to cutting greenhouse gas emissions as far as possible and balancing any further releases by removing an equivalent amount from the atmosphere.
Mr Guterres will say that every country, city, financial institution and company "should adopt plans for a transition to net zero emissions by 2050". In his view, they will also need to take decisive action now to put themselves on the path towards achieving this vision.
The objective, says the UN secretary general, will be to cut global emissions by 45% by 2030 compared with 2010 levels.

Dr M offers to be witness in suit against Azmin |

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has offered to be a witness in court for the lawsuit filed by several Gombak voters against their MP, Mohamed Azmin Ali.
In a Facebook post, Mahathir said the letter of demand filed by the plaintiffs had touched on the Sheraton Move amid the political turmoil in February and the formation of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
“I view the people’s bravery to question the credibility and integrity of an MP like Azmin as a process that matures the democratisation of the country.
“I am ready to offer myself as a witness in court if my statement is needed. I am ready to help,” the Langkawi MP said.
Mahathir said he himself had spoken about some of the matters raised by the plaintiffs in their demand letter, adding that the courts were the best forum to confirm the allegations brought up in the suit.
He said elected representatives need to understand that the people chose them to be their voice in Parliament and to lead them, not to grapple for power or to serve their own interests.
Ten Gombak voters filed a suit for deceit and breach of fiduciary duty against Azmin last week, wanting a declaration that the senior minister for economy, as trustee, owes them a fiduciary duty as an elected representative.
The plaintiffs also want a declaration that Azmin committed the tort of deceit against them and that he had violated his constitutional oath under Article 59(1) read together with the 6th Schedule of the Federal Constitution.
